Every year, MountainXperience clients who climb Snowdon are asked if they’d like to make a small donation to our local mountain rescue team. Again this year they’ve donated over £300 during the 2024 season which we’ve rounded up to £350. That’s over £1000 you’ve raised – what an awesome bunch of people you are!
The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team is a voluntary organisation who respond to those in need on Snowdon and the surrounding mountains. The team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and relies entirely on donations from members of the public to carry out this essential life-saving rescue service.
The team is made up of around 40-50 volunteer members. Each has a good level of mountaineering experience in both summer and winter conditions and local knowledge of the mountains around Snowdonia.
Mountain rescue incidents on Snowdon range from twisted ankles and overdue persons on easy paths to the most serious accidents or fatalities on cliffs and steep ground. The response provided might involve assistance by just a handful of members or may involve the majority of the team. On more complicated incidents the team may request support from the neighbouring rescue teams and also the Coastguard Rescue Service helicopter.
